Tea Party March on DC

Yep, Anne and I went to DC on Saturday September 12 and attended the Tea Party. We arrived around 9:30 a.m. and parked near the Jefferson Memorial. Then we walked up 14th St. to Freedom Plaza. Along the way two Marine One helicopters flew over to the White House. As we turned onto Constitution Ave. the two choppers took off and flew overhead. Guess he didn't want to join the party.

Anyway, Anne and I proceeded to Freedom Plaza on the East Side of the White House where the march down Pennsylvania Ave. to the Capitol Building was to start. We met some of the nicest people there. Carrying signs and exercising their Constitutional right to free speech. Not a curse word was spoken. Not a racial slurr nor sign anywhere. We arived there about 9:50 a.m. and the march was not to begin until 11:30.

Freedom Plaza at 9:50 a.m.

Like a tidal wave the crowd grew and grew. It had gotten so large that the police stationed in the Plaza anounced that the crowd had exceeded the limit and had to start marching. This was at 10:30. A full hour before the march was scheduled to begin.

Then we arrived at the Capitol...

Here are the two main instigators....with their Gadsen flags.

Anne helped to stimulate the local economy and bought this shirt.

At this rally we met some of the nicest, most down to earth folks. It was a peaceful rally that was attended by much, much more than 75,000 people. One of the most amazing things about the march was the lack of residual trash after it was done. Another amazing stat... zero (0) arrests!! Imagine that.
